Mime Love

I did a (very) rough ink sketch a few days ago of two characters, and it went horribly wrong, so I turned them into mimes, because that’s what you do when a drawing goes wrong- you add something happy to try to save it. I’m very Bob Ross-ian that way. Anyway, that turned into a little idea about two mimes from warring mime factions (stripes vs. spots, it’s very contentious) that manage to find forbidden love despite their differences.

Long story short, sometimes character design takes you in unexpected and interesting directions. πŸ˜›

  1. I never would have guessed this had evolved from an oops. It’s such a strong concept – stripes versus spots and like a mime version of West Side Story – that it’s seems to be the product of intentional choices. I love the grisaille work with the tiny splash of pink.
