Illustrated Recipe: Lemon-Basil Pasta!

lemonbasilrecipe

It was a little while in coming, but I have another illustrated recipe that I am so excited to share with you today: a slightly modified version of Ree Drummond’s Lemon Basil Pasta recipe!

I love pasta. If I could only cook one thing for the rest of my life, it would be pasta. It makes me weak with giddiness just thinking about it. But in the heat of the summer, a pasta habit can be a little difficult to maintain. That’s where this recipe comes in handy. I’ve made it a few times now, making a couple tiny tweaks each time, and it always tastes so fresh and light. The sauce is delightfully creamy, but the zing of the lemon and basil keeps it from being too heavy for a summer evening. Absolutely beautiful.

This recipe is also useful because it uses so much fresh basil, which we happen to have in abundance right now. Back in May, I mentioned that we had gotten some herb plants for my mom on Mother’s Day. We were a little worried that they wouldn’t survive long, but we shouldn’t have fretted… they have TAKEN OVER. So if you have a go-to recipe that requires a large amount of fresh herbs, please let me know. čÖé

Illustrated Recipe: Coq Au Vin

Today’s contribution to our #doodlewashdinner brings you something special that I hope to keep doing: an illustrated recipe! This was a complete experiment and I am so pleased with how it turned out. Hopefully it is both decorative and informative (and hopefully you can read my handwriting!).

This is an essential French┬árecipe that I’ve added to my repertoire in recent months, Coq Au Vin. I started out with this recipe from Food Wishes┬á(apologies in advance for the innuendo) and have altered it a few times, experimenting┬átrial-and-error style. It’s finally reached a place where there are consistently good results. It is so rich, decadent, and satisfying. If you try it, please let me know!
